There is a cheesy quote that goes, “Friendship is the best ship.” I don’t completely understand what this means but if I were to be on any boat, I would hope that it was with the people I care about and have fun with.

This past week was amazing with my #chi9 group of girl friends from high school. All the nerves I had prior to reuniting disappeared once we reconnected and were goofing off same as old times. I am so thankful for those girls and the friendships I have created with them. True friendship can stand the test of time. Even when you don’t write or call for forever, when you meet up everything picks right back up.

One of my favorite times this week was when we went to the Chicago Botanical Gardens and had a photoshoot.

Who To Know

“This life is not as much about places to go and things to do, as who to know. ” ~Judah Smith

I don’t know about everyone else, but I easily get caught up in doing things. Busyness is glorified in today’s society and I admit to being a victim of that lie. It’s partly who I am, my genuine enjoyment of activities and people, but also this idea that I need to do EVERYTHING.

Not only that, but I love traveling. I have been blessed to grow up traveling the world. I have been quite spoiled in this way and I don’t know if I will ever get over this travel-fever. There’s so much to see and do in this world! However, as Judah Smith points out, we must not let all these desires we have (though they can be good desires) override our desire for Jesus. Nothing fulfills or satisfies like Jesus! We will never leave empty, disappointed or betrayed when we invest in Him.

My challenge for myself and you, is to keep our focus and desires firstly on Jesus. When He is our Rock and Foundation, all the rest of our desires fall into place. We won’t have to be stressing over figuring out “His will” because we’ll be living in it. We won’t be satisfied with what the world has to offer or all the things Pinterest tells us we need to do. Instead, we can rest in our identity in Christ- knowing Who and Whose we are.

Summer Time is Here!

To kick off my summer, my boyfriend took me out on a date after the graduation. We went to Red Robin and watched Godzilla afterwards. It was a crazy and fun day! I also had to move into the apartment where I will be staying for the summer. Because my family doesn’t even live in the USA, we luckily have a friend who offered to let me stay with her for free! I am so thankful that God provided perfect housing for me. I look forward to living the urban Chicago life!

Next week will be the beginning of a wonderful week-long reunion with my close girl friends from high school (from boarding school in Manila, Philippines)! It is going to be crazy, seeing as we are fitting nine girls into a small Chicago apartment. Nine girls sharing one bathroom?! Hmm… This picture was taken this week with two of the girls from the group. We had spent the lovely afternoon laying on the beach in Evanston, IL.

Reuniting with all these friends makes me so thankful for the adventures, fun and deep talks we had in high school. It is so important to cherish the time you have with your friends, make crazy memories and say the things that need to be said, while you still have the time. I know that sounds cheesy, but it is so true! If there are friendships that need to be mended, say sorry; if there are people you want to get to know, say hi; and if there are things you’ve always wanted to do, just do them! This is your chance, take it. Sieze the day!
